tapioca pearl in the house

After we went through all the drama of picking out countertops, we had to wait a few weeks for them to template our kitchen, and fabricate the counters.  Over this past weekend, we got all prepped for the install:
Matt got the whole backsplash off in about 15 minutes.  It was amazing.
Yesterday was the Day.  Yesterday was Install Day.

At around 12:30, two installers showed up and got right to work.  They brought all four pieces in,  glued/melted two of them together by the sink, sanded the seam out, got them all attached and even cleaned up any mess they made in less than an hour.  They were really great and I was very impressed.

Warning: Don't judge me for my clashing appliances, the unfinished cabinets, and lack of a backsplash.  Try to appreciate the counters themselves and not their surroundings. :)
The caulk/glue they used made my whole house smell like a nail salon...blah.
And now for my amazing sink and faucet.  I'm in Love.
P.S. Did anyone notice a seam?  You want to see where the seam is?
 Isn't that amazing?!? I couldn't believe it!

Now that the counters are in, we are going to get a few samples for a backsplash and move forward from there!

  1. OMG! Fabulous!!! Can't wait to see the backsplash you choose.

  2. Wow found your blog after....get this...painting our kitchen cabinets black and getting our new counter tops put in....yep....the same ones.....Strange! Great taste! So we are having a hard time picking a back splash. I originally wanted to do white subway tile but doesn't seem right with the counter top. Would love to see what you decide!

    1. That's great! Do you love it as much as we do?? We ended up going with a subway tile, but it's not plain white (which was my original thought as well). It's a grey "wood vein" tile that I will be posting about very soon! Stay tuned...

  3. Wow....I love it. I found your blog after painting my kitchen cabinets black and having new counters put in.......yes the same as yours....great minds!!!!
I am in love with the counters! NO SEAM!!!! So we are having a hard time picking a backsplash...love to see what you pick!

  4. Looks great. Our cabinets were the same builder's oak you had and we are nearly done..can't wait. We are going to go with new countertops when completed as well. We brought in some samples from Home Depot - looks just like one of our samples. Looks like you went with LG's solid surface countertops -- what color did you go with? Thanks again for posting all of your work!

  5. Hi Steve! The color of the counters is LG HI MACS "Tapioca Pearl"
