diy sunglasses storage

Matt used to work at an Oakley store when we lived in Austin, so we have a ton of sunglasses in this house.  And, because I live with Mr. Sunglasses, these babies must be taken care of very well.  Originally, we were keeping our sunglasses in a bowl on the console table in the kitchen, but with the new mudroom, we thought it would be best to have everything all together.

Just like the hook board I made for the mudroom, I used a scrap piece of 1x3, made two holes in it, and then painted it white.
Then, I grabbed some leather cording leftover from a bracelet I made, and ran it through the holes and stapled it in the back.
I really didn't want to nail this board to the wall, so I picked up some Industrial Strength Velcro from Home Depot and attached it to the wall.
It was super easy to use, and works really well!
Simply slide one arm of the sunglasses through the cording, and you've got instant storage.
I already had everything for this project, except the velcro, so this project cost me a total of $1.50!

  1. What a great idea. Found this on Pinterest and just re-pinned it. I should make something like this for my laundry/mud room. Thanks for sharing. I'm your newest follower too.
