Bit Off More Than I Can Chew

Let's just say, I've bitten off more than I can chew.  Between buying the house, planning the wedding (3 months to go!) and our new little pup, I am more than a little overwhelmed.

However, I've gotten some pictures taken (finally) of our updates in the house.  Here's a preview of each project and of posts to come:

Built a new bed frame for the Master Bedroom.  We are still in desperate need of new bedding and we have plans to build a headboard in the future.

We painted the master bedroom a beautiful tan and painted all the woodwork white (a huge improvement from the dated oak).  You can also see a sneak peak of the dresser I refurbished a few weeks ago in this picture.

The first project, and only project that has been 100% completed since we moved in is the closet.  We painted it the same tan as the bedroom, and organized it like crazy! Being the organization-crazed person I am, I had this done the first weekend, and it is such a great use of space!

We also painted the master bath.  The color is hard to capture, but it is a gorgeous green/blue color.  The best part is that we got a gallon of paint at the Re-Store for only $5! Great deal, and it takes a lot of the hard work out of making a color decision.

We are also working on getting our guest room somewhat completed.  My future in-laws are visiting in a few weeks, and I want it to be cozy for them!

Meet Roxy

Welcome the beautiful addition to our family -- Roxy!

Facts about Roxy:
She is 10 weeks old (she was 8 weeks when we got her)
She is a Shepherd/Boxer Mix...supposedly
She loves her big sister, Bailey
She covers the floors with stuffing from her toys on a daily basis
She loves to give kisses
Her favorite toy is a fake set of Christmas lights that squeak
She has done minimal damage to our house/possessions *knocks on wood*

She was in an over-crowded shelter when Every Creature Counts rescued her.  You can adopt pets from them at PetSmart.  We are doing puppy training with her, and she is just a doll!

P.S. She is the cutest sleeping puppy ever!

Sunny Yellow Lamp DIY

My apologies for being absent! We have been going going going on the house getting prepared for a few parties and family visiting next month! I will (hopefully) be posting all of our updates this week!

This weekend, Matthew and I made our way over to the Restore, and found some amazing things! One of them was this gold lamp.  Needless to say, the gold is hideous, but the shape is something wonderful and it was only $2! The Restore is a great place! They are always getting new things for very little and the money goes to the Habitat for Humanity.

I made quick trips to Home Depot for spray paint in "Summer Squash" and a cute lamp shade from Target. Unfortunately, this lamp didn't come with a shade, but if it had, I could have achieved the same look with a plain white shade and some black ribbon.  However, I didn't have any extra lamp shades around, so this did the trick for $14.

A few sprays and a couple hours later I have a beautiful new lamp.   I have seen similar lamp bases for upwards of $25, and this was only $5 to refurbish! It is a great addition to my office, and I have some big plans for this space coming in the next few weeks.
